Linear Engine
The Linear Engine was a research project for Stanford University, and the basis of my thesis for the Engineer's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The idea is to construct a novel form of hybrid electric engine by eliminating the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine and replacing it with a linear electric motor/generator. This not only allows variable displacement, but also complete freedom in determining the motion of the piston over time.
